14 Day Caribbean Cruise
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands
Nov. 9, 2010
12 pm to 8 pm
Description & Accessibility
We took a cruise line listed tour called ‘Accessible St Thomas’ which was the only tour that was listed as accessible with the cruise line. Roll on capabilities (via a wheelchair lift) for scooter or wheelchair, but limited in numbers so only one or two could fit in the vehicle – more if some where foldable. It was a cloudy day and scattered showers trailed us the whole day. The best look off points where in the clouds for the most part. All though at one spot it did clear briefly. Anyone in a wheelchair or scooter did not get off the vehicle from start to finish, a couple of able bodied persons did get off briefly for picture taking.
Extremely steep hills in some sections and lot of mountain areas, like being on a roller coaster on some roads, with steep drop offs within feet of the road, along with rainy and less than perfect visibility made it somewhat of a scary ride for some.
Considering the less than perfect weather conditions that day we never really ventured into the area shopping so cannot provide much information on accessibility but if we get back to that port we will just go around the port area and will be able to provide more information then and hopefully the weather will be better.
