Las Vegas
Madame Tussauds
Wax Museum
Oct. 17, 2010
Description & Accessibility
We happened to come across this attraction as we where trying to find the route into the Venetian Hotel.
Without adhering to the sign on the right side of the ramp here I attempted to go up this moving sidewalk type ramp (the moving belt was not moving at the time) and it appears not that steep, but when I got about 2/3 of the way up the ramp the scooter stopped dead. Two workers at the top came running to assist and released the motor and pushed me the rest of the way up. It was discovered that the circuit breaker on the battery had tripped and once it was reset the scooter was back up and running again.
Now if I had listened to what the sign said there was elevator access to the entrance level of Madame Tussauds.
At the top of this steep ramp was the entrance to Madame Tussauds wax museum. If you take the elevator just around the corner from this ramp it would have brought you up to the entrance level just beyond the ticket counter. Once you get out of the elevator you can obtain / buy your tickets at the ticket counter before proceeding into the museum.
The normal way into the museum itself is via steps, but there is an elevator, the attended must use a key to allow the elevator to go to each floor of the museum itself and there is 2 floors to the museum, unfortunately when you finish seeing one floor no one there claims they have a key to the elevator so you have to go back down to the entrance level where the attendant near the elevator will use their key again to send you to the next level of the museum.
This is a worthwhile attraction to see, as all the wax figures are set up in a way that you can interact and be in the scene with the figures to take pictures.
Accessibility:
YES
The floors are easily accessible to wheelchairs / scooters but do not attempt the entrance ramp from the street – use the elevator, and you must see the attendant who will check your tickets and will use their key in the elevator to go to the museum floors.
