Melbourne
City Tour
Feb. 24, 2008
Description & Accessibility
This was a full day city tour of the area including lunch.
We also stopped at Queen Victoria markets, a great place for bargain shopping.
We used ‘Melbourne Private Tours’ for 3 days of touring in Melbourne. This city tour, Phillip Island and the Great Ocean Road Tour.
All the tour guides that we had where absolutely great.
Accessibility:
Queen Victoria Markets – accessible.
There was one part of the ‘Shrine of Remembrance’ building that was only accessible by stairs, the rest of the building was accessible.
There was also one large church that we took a look inside that we could not find an open accessible entrance so I had to leave the wheelchair at the bottom of the entrance stairs and with assistance get up the stairs to take a look inside.
All remaining stops was accessible. With a private tour you are able to be flexible and visit / stop at the more accessible locations. Also with Private Touring companies you can often discuss / negotiate a custom tour suited to you.
The vehicle used did not have roll on capabilities but if your mobility device could be folded or can easily come apart then it could be carried on the vehicle provided you can manage to get in and out of the vehicle.
