Description & Accessibility
This was an excursion outside of Sydney to the Blue Mountain area. It had some very nice scenery we stopped for lunch up in the mountains, it was the first time we saw Kangaroos but they where in the wild and hopped off as we got closer.
One look off spot we stopped at was not easy to get and impossible by wheelchair. I felt there was things I would have liked to take in that was not, such as Featherdale Wildlife Park and the cable car which we did not.
Accessibility:
Vehicle not roll on accessible, but if your mobility device was foldable or could easily come apart than it could be carried with you in the vehicle.
Accessible restrooms may be limited in the mountain area. rough in some areas.
From what I read and from others who have been there, Featherdale Wildlife Park is one that you should visit and is wheelchair friendly.
Their website states…
“Disabled facilities include: ramp access, toilets and flat gravel pathways and wheelchairs are available”
it was not one of the stops on our tour. I have read that the scenic cable car was also wheelchair accessible, we however did not take it during our tour.
If going on the Blue Mountain area again I would be more specific on what I wanted to take in. This tour was arranged by a travel agent. Another example of taking responsibility of doing your research and deciding the best places to go based on your interests and abilities. Being a mountain area there will be locations that is completely not suitable for mobility restricted persons.
We did enjoy the tour but later felt that certain changes could have made it even more enjoyable.
