Sydney
Opera House
Feb. 14, 2008
Description & Accessibility
This was a tour of the inside of the Sydney opera house. Rather this is worthwhile taking will often depend on your interests. The tour guide will give you information on the history of how the design of the opera house was made. When we arrived we had to wait for the tour guide as the tour guide was expecting us in the afternoon when our tickets clearly indicated a morning tour.
Personally the beauty of the place is really on the outside, and that can be enjoyed for free, inside it is just a place where concerts, shows and so on are performed. Unless I wanted to attend a performance there I would not be interested just to take the tour again.
Accessibility:
Not through the normal entrance, the normal entrance, as you can see anyone with any kind of mobility issues are not going to tackle this length of stairs. The ticket office is inside at the top of these stairs.
I had to take a side entrance and the tour guide routed us with the use of elevators via the side entrance. The tour guide said they have to do the same for people with mobility issues that are attending shows there.
The tour guide mentioned that there was plans to add elevator access to the front (the entrance at the top of the lengthy stairs. Not sure if this has been done since our visit in 2008.
