Description & Accessibility
Callao was the actual port location, Lima however was not that far away.
This was the first of several privately arranged tours….
Driver and private tour guide.
There was some confusion in regards to exactly where we would meet our private tour as the voucher indicated inside port. There was some cars and buses at the pier, someone used the contact number on our voucher and found out where they where, they where inside the port but just inside at the entrance to the port area so we took a transfer shuttle to that location.
We went to the main Lima square, we did not see the changing of the guard ceremony. Near where the driver dropped us with the guide at the main Lima square was two I assume homeless people looking for money sitting on the sidewalk they where not aggressive one had their leg screeched out with an open wound on it because of the space they where taking up it made for less space for me with the travel scooter to get by but I did get by them.
We also visited the cathedral of Lima very nice and a must see.
We had lunch at a wonderful buffet restaurant included in the tour.
We also made a stop at the ‘Inca Market’ for some shopping.
It was a wonderful tour with a great driver and tour guide, but just with any tour there was places we would have liked to have spent more time at including Lima’s main square.
Lover’s park was the last stop and we where running out of time and to save time only my wife got out to take to take a few pictures. The tour guide left us after this and the driver proceeded to drive us back to the port.
Unfortunately a taxi driver ran into us on the return trip right directly beside a police station. Not our driver’s fault but it did burn up additional time here, a police officer was asking us if we where ok but had trouble communicating to us in English but we where fine.
When we got back to the port and then take the bus transfer to the pier although less time we did manage to take a brief half hour to look at the per market located at the pier.
Accessibility:
None of the transportation vehicles had roll on accessibility but as long as your mobility device was foldable or quickly came apart and not too heavy (my travel scooter weighs 108 pounds and quickly comes apart into lighter weight sections) then it could be brought. You also must be able to transfer in and out of the vehicle.
