Description & Accessibility
The ship: Norwegian Jewel
Almost all areas of the ship was completely accessible, the exception was on one end on the very top deck (I believe it was deck 15) there was no elevator to that area only a staircase to the upper sun deck. Also the cruise I took had no tender ports so therefore I cannot comment on the tender operations on this ship.
Most decks had wheelchair accessible bathrooms with powered entry doors, remember to push the switch once you are in to lock the door.
Our previous cruise on the ‘NCL Sun’ had heavy wooden doors to most outside areas making it difficult without help to get to most outside areas. This ship ‘NCL Jewel’ had multiple powered doors going to outside decks, which was great for independent passage with a wheelchair in and out of the outside decks
The theater had designated wheelchair positions.
As with other ships we have been on the regular cabins have doors that are too narrow for wheelchairs to pass through and may have a step up into the bathroom / shower area. So you must book a modified / accessible room. A modified accessible stateroom has a wider entrance door, a wider level entrance door to bathroom with Rollin level entry shower along with grab bars.
