Dancing with the Stars
@ the Tropicana
Description & Accessibility
The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ show was at the Tropicana hotel. The dancers in the show are actually the ones that where on the TV show. It was one of the rare shows that they actually allowed you to take pictures during the show, BUT no flash and no video.
The show was in the Tropicana Theater at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino.
Accessible – YES
The normal entrance to the Theater is by the stairs as you can see in the picture above which will take you to the top of the theater itself, depending on the the tickets you bought wheelchairs could be at the very back / top of the theater, or at the very front (the more expensive tickets). If you have tickets for the back / top then there is a publicly accessible ramp on the opposite side that will take you around to the the top of the stairs you see in the picture above.
In the chart we bought tickets for the V.I.P table area in the front and if you look at the seating chart at the link above we where at the table labeled A6. Now to get to this area in a wheelchair you must contact security in the casino, now this casino does not have a specific security desk but ask at the cashier and they will get security to come to you and then escort you and any companions through a route that is only for employees and bring you to the front of the theater, now the table area in the front can be tight to get to and what I did is leave the power wheelchair off to the side and someone helped me to the seat at the table.
What I did not know when I purchased the tickets at the box office at the Tropicana hotel was that there was a single row of chairs just in front of the tables that the box office did not mention to me. That location had enough space between the stage and that row of chairs that a wheelchair could have easily been pushed or driven into those spots and would have been ideal if a person could not leave the wheelchair not sure if those seats had a different price tag to them then at the front tables.
There was also an additional endorsement that could be purchased or part of the ticket and I believe was only available to those that bought the front area V.I.P seating and that was the opportunity to have a picture taken with some of the stars after the show. Now if you had that endorsement on your ticket then after the show there was a short set of stairs from the front of the theater to the stage where the pictures where being taken, however if you simply cannot do the stairs the ushers will route you around to ramps up onto the stage, now you may have to wait until all others have had the pictures taken and they will do you last, what they did with me if they put me in back of the stage curtain and then I was helped and both me & my wife came in front of the curtain for the picture, in the event that you simply cannot get out of the chair I am sure they would have allowed you to just roll out beyond the curtain to get the picture. During the V.I.P pictures with the stars they asked that no picture personal pictures where taken.
There will be a table set up outside the theater after the show to view the pictures which where available for purchase.
