Bodies
The Exhibition
@ Luxor
Feb. 15, 2010
Cameras not allowed, but here is a promotional video found on you tube.
This is an excellent opportunity to see what makes up the human body. These specimens where actually at sometime in the past real living human beings which I have to assume decided to donate their bodies after they died to science or medical training. They have gone thru a specialized preservation process that will allow them to be on display forever.
No touching of the bodies is allowed except for a couple of organ specimens such as a kidney from a non smoker and a smoker. It show the damage of what years of smoking can do. I have heard that they do have school tours thru there at an age before they are likely to take up the smoking habit.
For the average person that has received no medical training this is one of the few opportunities to see what makes up the human body. On a lighter sideline the opposite gender does not look as appealing without their skin on, ha ha.
No video or pictures are allowed.
Accessible:
YES
YES it is, but you have to take a different route in. The normal route to the exhibit is via an escalator, so for a person unable to take an escalator and / or is using a scooter or wheelchair, you go to the normal entrance where they will take you to a private / staff only elevator up to the exhibit, the elevator itself is located in the middle of the exhibit, so they will escort you to the beginning / entrance of the exhibit, and then on your own go thru it in its entirety. When you are finish near the gift shop ask the person that has the display of kidneys that you can touch that we are ready to go, and someone will come and escort you to the elevation and then out.
This exhibit is located at the Luxor hotel. The titanic exhibit is actually located right beside the bodies exhibit location. You can buy tickets to both exhibits or individually.
