Hawaii – 7 Night Cruise
HILO
Volcano – Rainbow Falls
Feb. 3, 2008
Description & Accessibility
The day the cruise ship was in Hilo, it was raining, I understand that side of the island does get a lot more rain than on the other side (where Kona is located)
There was an location called the lava tubes, no actual lava but area I believe cut by eruptions of the past.
There was a few stops during the tour, the volcano area had steam coming off the rocks and had a strong sulfur smell to it.
Accessibility:
If your mobility device was foldable or could quickly come apart, then you can carry it in the under bus storage area. You must be able to manage the steps into the bus. Do not go into the lava tubes, only my wife went into these. Do not go into the volcano rock area but view near the bus.
Rainbow falls is accessible but you are limited how far you can go on paths from there, but the stay there is not that long so you are not going to have much time to go far into the paths in the rainbow falls area.
